The Story:

Weight loss is a personal issue that many of us are struggling with. To some, it’s only about better-fitting clothes but to me, it was about leading a healthy life. While growing up, I was never a petite girl but it was during high school that I went from being healthy to overweight. Once I started college, I couldn’t even divulge in sports or any athletic events as I was always out of energy. It got to a point where even walking up the stairs became a hassle. Freshman 15 was more like Freshman 25 in my case and all these changes came so discretely that I never realized what had actually happened.


I was once asked how much I weighed, to that I had no clear idea because I hadn’t weighed myself for a while. When I did, I couldn’t believe what the scale was showing. I was 20 yrs old and weighed 230 pounds! I couldn’t believe how I let myself to gain all that weight. From that day onwards, even looking in the mirror was hard. I knew I had to make a change and that too right away. I did what everyone in my situation would do and joined a gym.


I started going to the gym 2-3 times a week but felt a little lost in there. I would see people lifting weights and running on the treadmill and it was quite intimidating at first. My starting point was the treadmill and just cutting off junk food and soda. I did start noticing a change but soon I reached a plateau. That’s when I knew that I needed more of a professional help, to guide me through the change I wanted and that’s where Achal came in. I always saw him at the gym either training someone or working out. I contacted him and booked my first free session with him.


After my first session with Achal, I was confident that he would be the right person to help me in my weight loss journey. I started training with him 3 times a week and followed his cardio plan. With Achal, I learnt the importance of doing both cardio AND weight training, better eating habits and the right way to go about living a healthy lifestyle.


A year and a half later, I had lost a total of 120 pounds and felt better than I ever did. I lost the weight, gained proper muscle % and brought my BMI to a normal level. For someone who was so conscious of herself, I couldn’t wait to hit the beach in my new bathing suit.  It’s been 3 years now since I first started my weight loss journey and it feels good to know and share with everyone that I have still kept off the weight.
